Do the McConkey EcoChallenge with Your School

We were all lucky to grow up with the famous free skier Shane McConkey as another uncle-kind-of-person in our life. We knew he was a big deal to people in the ski industry, but really we just knew him as the fun dad who liked to run around with us, be goofy, and play the game “Would you rather….” His and our favorite question was always, “Would you rather stay in California the rest of your life with an awesome home, or travel the whole world forever but not be able to come back to California ever?” There were also a lot of questions about “inappropriate” things we probably shouldn’t put here. Shane passed away when we were all really little. His wife, our Aunti Sherry, is awesome and she is doing so much to honor his life and carry on for their daughter, our friend Ayla. Check out The Shane McConkey Foundation and get your school involved in the McConkey...

Climbing Cathedral Peak for My Grandpa’s 70th Birthday

Climbing Cathedral Peak for My Grandpa’s 70th Birthday

For my grandpa’s 70th Birthday, he wanted to climb Cathedral Peak in Yosemite and my mom and I went with him. We slept out under the stars in Tuolomne Meadows. It was cold and a little scary because of the bears but my grandpa told me a cool story as I fell asleep about two wolves – and choosing which one to feed, the one of darkness or the one of light. We started hiking the next morning at 5:00 am and made it to the notch in the peak about 11,000′. It was hard but really fun. I learned a lot and loved hanging out with my grandpa. To help protect and preserve Yosemite you can support The Yosemite...

Grandparents and Grandkids

Meet Nyuszi (Hungarian for bunny and pronounced noosie) and Poppy (English for Poppy and pronounced Poppy) – our grandparents. Nyuszi is a pediatric nurse and poppy is a psychologist and shaman. They’ve taught us to take care of each other and take care of our world. Nyuszi introduced us to a love of photography. Poppy introduced us to a love of adventures in nature. Nyuszi gave each of us our first camera. Poppy took each of us on our first Rite of Passage. We thank them for their teachings, inspiration, guidance, and...
